Review: Pond’s Cleansing Balm

Let’s talk about cleansing balm and first cleansing. When I was new to skincare, I have zero knowledge about different cleansers and as I go along with my journey, I have learned the importance of using a cleansing balm or cleansing oil as my first cleanser.

However, a lot of studies out there are saying that an ordinary cleanser would be okay and double-cleansing isn’t necessary. Again with skincare, just go with whatever you feel your skin needs. I personally like double cleansing as it also make sure that I have thoroughly cleansed my face.

I have tried a couple of cleansing oils and balm and when I saw that pond’s released their own, I was really excited to try it because for one it is affordable and second it could be easily bought since it is locally available.

Price:  Php 399.00

Weight:  44ml

Description and Claims:

Pond’s Cleansing Balm is Pond’s best make up remover yet that melts away even the most stubborn waterproof makeup. This nourishing formula transforms from soft balm to silky oil, instantly melting away even the most stubborn waterproof make up while deeply nourishing your skin.

Ingredients:  This specific cleanser is said to have a 100% organic fresh rose water. It also has shea butter and cocoa seed butter. It should also be noted that this cleansing balm has citric acid and perfume.

How to use:  I scoop the balm onto my palms and apply it into my face and rinse it. Then I go with my gentle cleanser.

Packaging: This balm is in a plastic jar with all the product details needed such as the description and ingredients, however, some sections are hard to read since the fonts are small. There is no other box or packaging included and there is no spatula.

Effectiveness and other Experiences:

  • This has a strong old rose scent which is expected since this has a perfume. If you have sensitive skin, this isn’t a product I would recommend since fragrances in skin care can cause some irritations.
  • The balm applies smoothly however in the middle of using this, I have noticed that it had a weird texture, like a very tiny beads or maybe the balm formed since it did melt as I applied it.
  • This is that cleansing balm that I feel I need to use more to remove more since it doesn’t feel like it is removing my make up thoroughly.
  • Unlike the previous balm that I used, this has not that easy to rinse. It did leave an oily feeling after rather than smooth, silky finish

Final Thoughts and Tips:

This isn’t that cleansing balm that I would purchase (this was a gift). I would rather invest in a good cleansing balm than use this. The fragrance is too much and really unnecessary.

If you are looking for a good cleansing oil and balm, I would suggest that you check out the ALTHEA PORE PURIFYING SERUM CLEANSER and the HEIMISH CLEANSING BALM.

Xoxo,

Roseanne ❤

  1. I don’t know what it is with me and always picking the wrong cleansers but after running out of the Nature republic cleanser I loved so much I have always bought cleansers that dry out my skin or burn. 😦
Do you have any recommendations for a good oil cleanser that you particularly love? 🙂

    1. Hello! You can try the Cosrx Good morning cleanser. It is very gentle on the skin and really removes sebum. It is available on watsons or you can check RRKOREANSHOP at shopee. You could also check out the IN HER ELEMENT Gel cleanser. For oily skin, I really recommend Gel cleansers since it is moisturizing and gentle on the skin
